A comparison between Vivaldi and log-periodic antenna systems for radar cross section measurements in the Fresnel region
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to compare two types of antenna systems for radar cross section measurements on a rectangular target in a real environment and in the Fresnel region based on the field integration on the target surface. Delay of the wave propagation through the antennas influence the distance range between antenna and target. In order to reduce the effects of the propagation, a normalized, distance average of the transfer function is applied. Both theoretical concepts and practical considerations are validated, based on measurements accomplished with log-periodic and Vivaldi antennas. © 2019 IEEE.
