Résumé

CONTRIBUTION TO THE CHRONOSTRATIGRAPHY OF THE LOWER PALEOLITHIC SITE OF MENEZ DREGAN 1 (PLOUHINEC, FINISTERE, FRANCE). CORRELATIONS WITH THE GWENDREZ CLIFF PLEISTOCENE DEPOSITS One of the main objectives of research on the Lower paleolithic site of Menez Dregan I (Plouhinec, Finistere, France) is to propose a chronostratigraphic and paleoenvironmental interpretation of the history of this cave, during which human occupations alternated with marine inrushs. Radiometric datings have been carried out, but results diverge depending on the employed method (ESR or TI.). However, the proximity of a section with a larger sedimentary recorded the Gwemdrez cliff enables us to attempt correlations between the different deposits by means of a sedimentologic study applied to sandy marker beds (dunes...). Thereby new facts allow us to draw up a more precise chronostratigraphy of this site and contribute to validate radiometric datings. In fact the Gwendrez section preserves several paleosoils as well as coastal deposits and may imply a long chronostratigraphy for this cliff. These results lead us to choose ESR dating which notably attribute a holsteinian age to the occupation complex 5 of the Menez Dregan 1 site.
