Filter Shape Index Modulation for single antenna Non – Orthogonal Multiple Access systems

Abstract

In our work we propose the use of an index modulation for Non – Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) systems, called Filter Shape Index Modulation (FSIM), in the terahertz context. We consider a Single – Input Single Output (SISO) downlink NOMA system with two users, and we use it to compare FSIM with the Quadrature Phase Shift Keying modulation (QPSK). We compare the two modulations in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) for two different values of NOMA power ratio. Additionally, we compare them in terms of spectral efficiency (SE) and we showcase the superiority of the FSIM – NOMA system for two different scenarios.
