Performance of DSTM MIMO Systems with 2, 4 and 8 Transmit Antennas Using Extensions of the Weyl Group

Résumé

In this paper, we analyze the performance of differential space-time modulation (DSTM) for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with 2, 4 and 8 transmit antennas. These new schemes are based on the use of simple and double extensions of the Weyl group of matrices aiming at increasing the spectral efficiency of the conventional DSTM found in literature. Furthermore, this work proposes a thorough analysis of the distance spectrum between these matrices and adopts a near optimal matrix selection algorithm along with an optimal mapping between the used matrices and the binary data vectors to decrease the bit error probability. Simulation results are provided to determine the performance of the proposed schemes. © 2020 IEEE.
