Compressive sensing approach for fast antenna far field characterization

Résumé

A compressive sensing approach is proposed to speed up the measurement of antenna far field patterns. The antenna pattern is expanded into spherical harmonics providing a sparse representation of the field. Readily available algorithms can then be used to reconstruct the field from a reduced number of samples compared to conventional approaches. This strategy leads to important savings in the number of measurement points as shown in various experimental examples. © Institution of Engineering and Technology. All Rights Reserved.
