This diversity is likely associated to functions assigned by humans. The dog’s special status might find an explanation according to a possible scenario of dog speciation from the mother-species, the grey wolf. This scenario emphasizes the primary selection and propagation of a temperament trait in populations of migratory wolves following nomadic humans. The selection of temperament traits is an important contemporaneous challenge due to the large numerical expansion of pet dogs in certain countries %G French %L hal-01229926 %U https://univ-rennes.hal.science/hal-01229926 %~ UNIV-PARIS13 %~ UNIV-RENNES1 %~ CNRS %~ ETHOS %~ ETHOS-PEGASE %~ LEEC %~ STATS-UR1 %~ COMUE-NORMANDIE %~ UR1-UFR-SVE %~ UR1-HAL %~ UR1-SDV %~ TEST-UNIV-RENNES %~ TEST-UR-CSS %~ UNIV-RENNES %~ UNICAEN %~ SORBONNE-PARIS-NORD %~ UR1-BIO-SA %~ ETHOS-CIRCE
