Use of Pseudonyms in IPv6 ITS Communication: Performance Degradation and Exposure New Identity with Security Protocols

Résumé

IPv6 communications will provide us safer and more efficient driving environments as well as convenient and infotainment features in cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). In this paper, we discuss two specific issues that arise as we use pseudonyms in IPv6 ITS communications: 1) performance degradation due to the use of pseudonyms with a changing scheme during IPv6 ITS communications; and 2) exposure of new identity due to the use of separate security protocols.
